Emmett has been a Controller, Treasurer, COO and CFO for 30+ years with companies ranging in size from 40 to 3,000 people. His experience has been focused on raising capital, M&A and managing accounting and finance teams in companies that were experiencing rapid change. After receiving his BA from Dartmouth in 1988, he started work in public accounting with Ernst and Young, and received his Masters in Accounting from New York University in 1992. He earned his CPA designation and MBA from NYU in 1993, and became a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 1998. 

ØDuring his career, Emmett has worked with early stage, private and public companies and is an expert at helping companies navigate through rapid change. He has raised more than $1.5 billion in equity and debt capital over the past 20 years including two Initial Public Offerings: one in 1997 and one in 2006. After moving to Atlanta in 2002, he served as a CFO partner with Tatum Partners before joining a private Duluth, GA based military contractor, DataPath, in 2005. 

ØEmmett has been helping companies restructure and upgrade their approach to accounting and finance since 2009 as the CEO of Practical Vision and now as the CEO of Practical Growth Advisors. He resides with his wife and two children in Marietta, Georgia.

John has spent his 30+ year career advising companies and helping them grow. Prior to joining Practical Growth Advisors, John Coffin was the Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Atlantic Capital Bank. He oversaw the Bank’s Regional Corporate Banking, Financial Institutions and Capital Markets divisions. Atlantic Capital is the largest startup bank in US history with a initial capital raise of $125MM. Since opening in May of 2007, Atlantic Capital grew to a $2.9 billion, publicly traded bank (NASDAQ: ACBI) with a market capitalization in excess of $450MM. Atlantic Capital grew by executing the core strategy of serving the finance and banking needs of growing, privately-held companies.

Prior to co-founding Atlantic Capital Bank, John spent ten years at Wachovia Bank with leadership positions in the capital markets, commercial and corporate banking divisions.  Before joining Wachovia in 1996, he worked in New York in the Media Group at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company, Chemical Bank and Chase Manhattan Bank (through these two mergers).

John earned a BA degree in English from Dartmouth College and received a MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. In 2018, John joined Practical Growth Advisors as President. He is active in various civic activities and resides with his wife and three children in Buckhead.
